The 2022 Aylward Reserve Chardonnay represents the pinnacle of Ocean Eight’s craft, produced only from the most expressive vineyard parcels on the Mornington Peninsula. This is Chardonnay at its most refined — complex, textural, and built for both immediate enjoyment and graceful ageing.

The 2022 vintage opens with lifted aromas of citrus, white peach, and subtle oak spice. On the palate, layers of stone fruit and mineral tension are balanced by fine acidity and elegant structure, creating depth and persistence that linger beautifully.

Available as a 6-bottle pack, the Aylward Reserve Chardonnay is ideal for collectors and connoisseurs seeking a benchmark cool-climate white wine. It reflects both the precision of Ocean Eight winemaking and the extraordinary potential of the Mornington Peninsula.

The highlight with the 2022 vintage was the weather leading into harvest. It was mild and dry with lots of cloud cover which helped maintain a beautiful acidity and freshness in this wine that matches the righer creamier characters from the barrel frementation.

A contrast to the verve chardonnay. The grapes are hand picked 5-6 days riper from the same vineyard. The grapes are gently pressed and gravity fed into a mixture of New and used barrels. This has passed the citrus spectrum of flavours and has more of the creme brulee flavours of a high quality chardonnay. This wine is aging for 10-15 years and is a must to have in your high end section of the cellar.
