Reserve Chardonnay 2021 ‘Aylward’

Chardonnay from our vineyard in Tuerong on the Mornington Peninsula.

Planted in 1999, the Aylward Chardonnay for many years was labelled as ‘Grande’. In 2019 this wine was rebadged to allow Ocean Eight to have two ranges of wines – ‘Ocean Eight’ & ‘Aylward.

This Chardonnay is from a small paddock block of 277 clone that when yields are restricted, produces fruit with rich, but beautifully balanced flavours in the wine.

Winemaking amplifies the inherent opulence we see in the juice. 15% of the barrels are new (French) & all the barrels for this wine go through malolactic conversion.

Only 2000 bottles were produced in 2021 and the wine will be available at the cellar door and our website for a short time only.
